What is ‘The Whale Rider – On Stage’?
An uniquely New Zealand story that has touched the hearts of many around the world, now a new multi-million dollar theatrical production designed and presented to the highest international standards.


How is ‘The Whale Rider – On Stage’ different from the movie?
It follows closely the story of the novel taking the audience on a journey between two worlds – land and sea, young and old, and highlights the deep spiritual connection between the human and whale worlds.


Where does the cast and creative team come from?
All New Zealand cast. Written by Witi Ihimaera, adapted for the stage by Toby Gough, starring Rawiri Paratene as Koro and Vicky Haughton as Nanny Flowers and featuring songs written by Hinewehi Mohi. George Henare as Paikea and to be announced very soon is the young girl who will play Kahu (Please note Kahu is her name from the novel - in the movie the producers chose to name her Paikea).
